The CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma is the second level of the professional qualification and normally requires completion of the CIPS Diploma level 4.
It builds on the comprehensive best practice operational knowledge gained in the Diploma to enable the development of innovative approaches and solutions in procurement and supply chain management. This course takes a broader and more strategic view of how the procurement function can deliver essential competitive advantage to the organisation in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
The course consists of 5 core modules and 3 elective modules as follows:
Core Modules
Elective modules (choose 3 out of 5)
Experienced procurement professionals, senior buyers and managers looking to further their career in strategic management and leadership roles
The focus in the Advanced Diploma is on taking a company and whole supply chain perspective and identifying where effort is best focused to maximise the value that can be contributed through procurement and supply management. It gives procurement and supply chain professionals the knowledge and skill base to reduce cost, to deliver improved quality, flexibility and responsiveness, to improve supply reliability and continuity, and to achieve increased stakeholder and customer satisfaction.
HND, NVQ Level 5, 2nd year of a graduate degree.
Each half module is assessed with a 1.5 hours computer based exam consisting of multiple choice and drop down list style questions. Each full module is assessed with essay- based exams lasting 3 hours.
Successful completion of the CIPS Level 4 Diploma.

APA Procurement Training offer a range of ways to study with us to suit your requirements. Course costs include the course books for each module plus additional learning materials, as well as full tuition and exam preparation and the administrative cost to sit exams at our centre in Swindon or at a centre closer to where you live.
The only additional costs will be the CIPS exam fees.
CIPS student membership is payable directly to CIPS.
Due to popular demand from our students, we will continue to offer online learning for the full range of our CIPS courses and Apprenticeships. The ease and convenience of having online learning wherever you are based means that these courses are in high demand. Students attend a live classroom session with their peers and the class is a close replication of a face-to-face session including small group learning opportunities. There are 5 to 6 tuition sessions and a revision session per module, followed by an exam. The exams can be taken in our exam centre in Swindon, at an alternative exam centre close to you if there isn’t a CIPS exam centre near you, online through CIPS remote invigilation.
Learners are provided with recordings of short tutorials, learning materials and learning exercises to guide them through the course material, and with ongoing access to online tutor support.
Choosing distance learning very much depends on the level of support required by you as an individual and the time you have available to study.
On-site delivery for cohorts can be tailored to your specific organisations needs. We can provide full or half day sessions on a flexible basis.
The Tutor clearly knows the content inside out, and I like the extra material on real life organisations which bring the subject to life.
I plan to continue my studies with APA until I am MCIPS qualified and cannot recommend APA highly enough!
